What to do in Bimini
During your day in Bimini, you'll have several shore excursion options, including boat tours, jet skiing, savoring Bahamian cuisine, or exploring the island by golf cart. However, booking an excursion isn't necessary—you can easily spend the day at the port. Just steps from the long pier is the Bimini Public Beach, which offers food trucks, as well as chair and umbrella rentals.
Review of the Bimini Beach Club Excursion
Upon booking the Resorts World Bimini Beach excursion, we were surprised by the lack of detailed information available online. The promotional pictures we found did not quite match the reality we encountered, leaving us curious and slightly skeptical as we embarked on our adventure. While we thought we would be swimming in the pool at the Hilton Resorts World Hotel, we were surprised as to where the tram took us.
While this Beach Club package includes beach access, lunch, and free Wi-Fi, we had no idea what to expect due to the poor description and pictures Carnival Cruise lines provided about this excursion.
Getting There
Once you disembark from the ship, a short walk down the pier will lead you to the trams. Unlike a private island, Bimini offers a variety of activities beyond the beach club.
The tram will take you to the beach club, which is not easily accessible on foot, even for avid walkers. The ride is brief and will include stops at the shops in Bimini and the Hilton Resorts World Hotel.
If you’re on the ship hoping to catch a glimpse of the beach club, you’ll be disappointed—it’s not visible from the ship. Upon exiting the tram, you’ll arrive at the entrance of the beach club. From there, you can choose from various areas to set up for the day.
Arrival at the Beach Club
Upon arrival at Resorts World Bimini Beach, we were warmly greeted with a complimentary Bahama Mama, setting a welcoming tone for the day. The beach is thoughtfully divided into two distinct areas: a family section with attentive staff and an adult-only (18+) area for those seeking tranquility. Lounge chairs are available throughout the beach on a first-come-first-served basis.
Amenities and Activities
The beach boasts several bars serving both the family and adult areas, ensuring refreshments are always within reach. The adult area also features a DJ by the pool, adding a lively atmosphere to the serene surroundings. While most loungers and umbrellas are complimentary, cabanas are available for an additional fee. These cabanas, equipped with extra amenities and a fruit plate, can also be booked through a separate shore excursion for approximately $399 through Carnival Cruise Lines.
The family area offers numerous hammocks, perfect for a laid-back lounging experience. For dining, Beach Eats provides shaded picnic tables where you can relax and enjoy your meal. Adjacent to Beach Eats is the Beach Club Restaurant, offering a picturesque lunch setting overlooking the water.
The Beach Experience
The highlight of the excursion is undoubtedly the beach itself. The pristine white sand and crystal-clear waters create a stunning backdrop for a day of relaxation. On the day of our visit, the beach was pleasantly uncrowded, with only one cruise ship docked, making it easy to find lounge chairs right by the water.
Exploring Beyond the Beach
After soaking up the sun, we hopped on the complimentary tram over to Resorts World Hotel. You can stop here before or after your Bimini Beach day, just let them know you wish to stop at the hotel (It's on the way).
The hotel amenities are part of the shore excursion, the hotel features an array of amenities, including restaurants, bars, casino, swim-up bar, and an infinity pool on the fifth floor with breathtaking views of Bimini.
The free tram service also connects to local shops, perfect for a bit of shopping before or after your beach visit. For those interested, there’s a free public beach at the end of the pier, offering food trucks, beach chair rentals, umbrellas, and cabanas. However, this free beach lacks the DJ, multiple bars, and free Wi-Fi provided at Resorts World Bimini Beach.
Essentials Needed
When visiting the beach, don't forget to bring some essentials to ensure you have a great day. Pack a beach bag with sunscreen, sunglasses, a beach towel, and a water bottle if you'd like. If you're planning to participate in other activities around town, consider bringing water shoes and snorkel equipment. However, note that some excursions provide these items, so be sure to check in advance.
Beach Club Experience
We absolutely loved this excursion and were pleasantly surprised by the additional amenities, especially the beautiful beach. If you're considering booking this excursion through Carnival Cruise Lines, be aware that as of summer 2024, their pictures and description didn't fully capture its appeal. As one of the most affordable shore excursions available, I highly recommend the Resorts World Bimini Beach excursion—it's definitely worth the money.
